Martha Gluck – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Date: Jun. 23, 2017

Age Group: Adults

On Friday June 23, Martha Gluck will be sharing her adventures in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Though her visit to Abu Dhabi was to see her daughter and truly not on her vacation destination dream list, she now will visit again.  Abu Dhabi is a city of contrasts. A city where the daily calls to prayer are heard almost through the city even in the malls. It is a city of innovative architecture, over the top entertainment and sports, and business entrepreneurship is contrasted by strict censorship and tough working conditions for workers.

Martha has worked in public schools as a classroom teacher, art teacher and school librarian. She is teaching an Intro to Art Education at Sul Ross. Martha and her husband Richard bought a house in Alpine three years ago but have both only been living in Alpine full time since April.

The Travel Talk will begin at 7 pm in the AEP Multipurpose room at APL.
